WORKING WITH FILES AND FOLDERS
After completing the lessons on working with files and folders, I have developed a strong understanding of how digital information is created, stored, organized, and managed on a computer. This module was very practical and relevant to everyday computer use.
I learned what files are and how they store different types of information such as documents, images, audio, and videos. I also understood the importance of folders as containers used to organize files logically. Creating folders, renaming them appropriately, and placing files in the correct folders has helped me appreciate the value of proper file organization.
The lesson on File Explorer was particularly helpful. I learned how to open and navigate File Explorer, view drives and folders, and move between locations on the computer. I also learned how to use the search bar to quickly locate files and folders by name, which saves time and improves efficiency, especially when dealing with many files.
I gained practical skills in using a USB drive to store, copy, transfer, and back up files from one computer to another. I now understand the importance of safely ejecting the USB drive to avoid data loss or corruption.
The module also covered deleting files and folders correctly and explained the role of the Recycle Bin. I learned that deleted files are first moved to the Recycle Bin, where they can be restored if needed. I also learned how and when to empty the Recycle Bin to permanently remove unwanted files and free up storage space.
Another important area was naming files and folders properly. I learned to use clear, meaningful names and avoid unnecessary symbols so that files are easy to identify and retrieve later. I also learned how to locate files in their correct places instead of saving everything on the desktop.
The lesson on decongesting the desktop was very useful. I now understand that keeping too many files on the desktop can make the computer slow and difficult to manage. Organizing files into folders within Documents, Pictures, or other appropriate locations helps maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
Finally, the module emphasized good digital habits, such as organizing files regularly, deleting unnecessary files, backing up important data, and maintaining order in file storage. These habits promote productivity, data safety, and responsible computer use.
Overall, this course has greatly improved my confidence and skills in managing files and folders. The knowledge gained will help me work more efficiently, stay organized, and use computers more responsibly in both academic and professional settings.
