The Attitude of Humility

πŸ“– Philippians 2:3 (NKJV)

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

My Dear Children,
Humility is an attitude that God values greatly. It means we do not think too highly of ourselves, but instead learn to respect and value others. The Bible teaches that selfish ambition and pride lead to conflict, but humility brings peace and unity.

Jesus Himself showed the greatest example of humility. In Philippians 2:8 we read that He humbled Himself and became obedient even to the point of death on the cross. If the Son of God lived with humility, it is a lesson for all of us.

Proverbs 11:2 also tells us that when pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble is wisdom. Humility opens the door to learning and growth.

Relevance to Life and Family
In families, humility helps us listen to one another and respect each other’s feelings. Children learn humility when they accept correction and value others. Parents show humility when they lead with patience and understanding.

A humble family creates an environment of respect and peace.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach our family to walk in humility. Help us put aside pride and learn to respect and value one another. May our attitudes reflect the example of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
