Let Your Yes Be Yes

πŸ“– Matthew 5:37 (NKJV)

β€œBut let your β€˜Yes’ be β€˜Yes,’ and your β€˜No,’ β€˜No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”

My Dear Children,
Jesus teaches that our words must carry weight. Commitment is closely tied to what we say. When we promise something, agree to something, or give our word, it should be trustworthy.

Ecclesiastes 5:4–5 warns that when we make a vow, we should not delay to pay it. It is better not to promise than to promise and not fulfill. God values integrity in speech.

Numbers 23:19 tells us that God is not a man that He should lie. When God speaks, He fulfills His word. As His children, we are called to reflect that same reliability.

Relevance to Life and Family
Children may promise to complete homework or chores. Parents may promise time, support, or guidance. A committed family learns that words are not casual. They are commitments.

Trust in the home grows when words are dependable.

Family Reflection
Do our words match our actions?
Are we careful before making promises?
How can we build trust through consistent speech?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach our family to speak truthfully and responsibly. Help us honor our commitments and reflect Your faithfulness in our words. May our yes truly mean yes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let Your Yes Be Yes

What a powerful reminder! Speaking with integrity and keeping our promises builds trust in our families and reflects God’s faithfulness. Truly, let our β€œYes” be yes, and our β€œNo” be no.
