Committed to Becoming Better

πŸ“– Philippians 3:13–14 (NKJV)

β€œBrethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal…”

My Dear Children,
Commitment is not only staying faithful. It is also pressing forward.

Paul admits he has not arrived. He is still growing. Still reaching. Still pressing. A committed life refuses to remain stuck in past mistakes or past successes. It moves forward with purpose.

Proverbs 4:18 says, β€œThe path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Growth is progressive. God expects movement.

2 Peter 3:18 also tells us to β€œgrow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.” Growth is not optional in the Christian life. It is evidence of commitment.

Relevance to Life and Family
Children may struggle in certain subjects or behaviors. Parents may recognize areas needing improvement. Commitment means we do not stay comfortable with weakness. We pursue growth.

A committed family is not perfect, but it is progressing.

Family Reflection
Are we growing spiritually, or remaining the same?
What habits do we need to leave behind?
What area is God calling us to improve?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help our family to keep pressing forward. Teach us not to dwell on the past, but to grow daily in grace and knowledge. Strengthen our commitment to become better according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Backward never, forward ever’—this is what our Father desires for us as His children. Just as an earthly parent rejoices when a child takes a new step, so our Heavenly Father delights in seeing us move forward. What we need, desire, and long for is found ahead, not behind us. As TOTMinders, we are called to move forwardβ€”in growth, knowledge, experience, understanding, and determination. We choose not to look back, but to press on with purpose to finish the race set before us. As Philippians 3:13–14 reminds us, we forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead, pressing on toward the goal. Our God guards the feet of His faithful ones, and when we take a step of faith, He is always ready to hold our hand and lead us into our destiny.

Amen. We choose to move forward in faith, leaving the past behind and pressing toward the purpose God has set before us.

Seems me I had started to let my guards down its high time I continue pursuing and not giving up easily.

That realization is powerful. The fact that you recognize it means you’re already regaining your focus. Don’t give up nowβ€”refocus, stay disciplined, and keep pursuing your goals with renewed determination.
