Choices Made in Secret

πŸ“– Genesis 37:24 (NKJV)

Then they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty; there was no water in it.

My Dear Children,

One day, Joseph's brothers were presented with a choice. Their jealousy had grown for years, and now they had the opportunity to act on it. Away from their father’s eyes, they threw Joseph into a pit and later sold him as a slave.

What many people overlook is that major failures often begin with small private decisions. Long before Joseph was placed in the pit, his brothers had allowed jealousy, resentment, and bitterness to grow in their hearts.

Luke 16:10 teaches, β€œHe who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” The opposite is also true. Small compromises can eventually lead to larger sins.

Numbers 32:23 reminds us, β€œBe sure your sin will find you out.” The brothers thought their secret would remain hidden, but years later the truth came to light.

God sees what happens in secret. He cares not only about our actions but also about the attitudes growing inside our hearts.

Relevance to Life and Family

Character is often revealed when no one else is watching. Children and parents alike make many unseen choices every day. Those choices shape who we become.

Strong families encourage integrity, choosing what is right whether others are present or not.

Family Reflection

How did the brothers' private attitudes affect their actions?
Why are small choices important?
How can we build integrity in our daily lives?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help our family honor You both in public and in private. Protect our hearts from sinful attitudes and guide our choices each day. May we be people of integrity who choose what is right even when no one is watching. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
