A Gentle Answer

πŸ“– Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV)

β€œA soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

My Dear Children,
God teaches us that the way we respond can either calm a situation or make it worse. A gentle answer has the power to reduce anger and bring peace, while harsh words often increase conflict.

The Bible also reminds us in James 1:19 that we should be β€œswift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” When we pause and think before speaking, we allow wisdom to guide our response.

Proverbs 21:23 adds another important lesson: β€œWhoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.” Careful speech protects us from many unnecessary problems.

Relevance to Life and Family
Disagreements sometimes happen in families. The way we respond during those moments matters. A calm and respectful answer can restore peace quickly, while angry words can cause lasting hurt.

Families that practice gentle responses learn to solve problems with understanding rather than conflict.

Family Reflection
Why do harsh words often make situations worse?
How can we practice giving gentle answers at home?
What helps us pause and think before we speak?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach our family to speak gently and wisely. Help us control our words and respond with patience and kindness. May our speech bring peace instead of conflict. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
